Description:
Silver Tip Tetra - Pick Up In Store Only
Scientific Name:
Hasemania Nana
The Silvertip tetra, like other tetra species is a schooling fish and so do best in groupings of at least 6 or more for them to feel most at home in your aquarium and to minimise the possibility of them becoming nippy towards other species. They quite often will operate in a pecking order and so the larger the group, the more successful the community tank.
Origin:
Originally comes from the Sao Francisco Basin in Brazil.
About me:
- Grows to: 5cm
- Temperature: 23-28° celcius
- pH: 6.0-8.0
- Temperament: Peaceful
Compatibility:
Silvertip Tetra are a small, peaceful, community fish that do best with other species of tetra, various dwarf South American Cichlids like Apistogramma and Ramirezi, catfish, Corydoras, smaller barbs, livebearers, danios and rasboras. Not always a good tankmate with larger species like Angelfish due to their more streamline body shape.
Feeding:
- Small Tropical Pellets
- Tropical Flakes
- Frozen Foods
Habitat:
Enjoys a tank with a wealth of plants and/or driftwood/rock creations for it to swim through and around. Can be kept in a more sparsely scaped tank though the colours and attitude flourish best when it has an environment that it can interact highly with as well as with a varied diet.
